COREG is a prescription medicine used to treat the symptoms of heart failure and high blood pressure (hypertension). COREG may be used alone or with other medications.
COREG belongs to a class of drugs called Beta-Blockers, Alpha Activity.
Beta-blockers are often used in the treatment of certain health problems. If you have one of these problems, your heart must work harder than normal to pump blood to your body. This increases the already existing strain on your heart. They may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor. Beta-blockers work by blocking a hormone in your body that can raise your blood pressure and heart rate. By reducing these effects, beta-blockers bring your blood pressure and heart rate down, which helps to reduce the heart’s workload and enables it to not pump as hard. COREG helps ease your heart’s workload, strengthens it after you’ve had a heart attack that reduces how well your heart pumps and provides daily cardio-protection.
